Rebuild
Ellis Elementary School is a rebuild of the much beloved but aged existing school.
After celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2018, Ellis Elementary is Utah’s longest continuously operating school. Through
additions in the 1930s, 1950s, 1980s and a remodel in the 1990s, Ellis has remained a cornerstone of education in Logan for 125 years.
Understanding the history of Ellis Elementary was monumental for the design of the rebuild. Design West worked carefully to understand the vision and importance of the final design to ensure history of both the school and community was incorporated.
The rebuild is located on the 3.5 acre existing site which includes a canal, limiting the rebuild layout options. Through precise and efficient planning, Design West’s design of the new Ellis Elementary School fits on the small site while allowing plenty of green space, parking and two options for future classroom additions.
The rebuild provides spaces to accommodate 21st century
teaching and learning and meets individual student needs with flexible and collaborative spaces.
