Mound Fort Junior High Innovation Center

2019

Addition/Remodel

The first of its kind in Utah, the new Innovation Center at Mound Fort
Junior High is designed to enhance STEM learning in a collaborative
environment.

The 13,000 sf facility provides unique learning opportunities for students in STEM subjects including engineering, design and modeling, video production and robotics. The design of the building and its spaces enables creativity and learning, featuring flexible areas that support project-based learning instead of traditional classrooms. This includes a computer lab where students can design their ideas, and a
“maker space” where students can turn their ideas into reality.

Incorporating “Building as a Learning Tool” (BLT) features is another design focus for the Innovation Center. Students can easily see color coded building systems - such as structural, plumbing, electrical - so
they can learn how they work together in the building. All of the building elements are tied into the Building Automation System and are on display, in real-time, for the students.

The new Mound Fort Junior High Innovation Center provides a flexible space for students to collaborate, communicate, think critically and creatively while solving authentic problems.
