Summit Elementary School

School Remodel

Design West was challenged to implement 21st century learning concepts in collaborative learning spaces for the remodel/addition of Summit Elementary, a 60 year old existing school. The new classroom wings feature multipurpose common areas, breakout areas, and large multi-group collaboration zones.  Classrooms are large and flexible and adhere to the concept of open learning areas where students can be the makers and teachers are the facilitators.  Large glass garage doors open at each pod for four classrooms to allow larger group learning areas and community interface.

Visually, the design of the 21st century addition complements the existing school. Design West also provided design for the addition of a new gymnasium and library as well as extensive upgrades to the remainder of the existing school.
